THE CLEMATIS

MV Clematis has a long history with the New Zealand Maritime Department, having served in the NZ Navy, US Navy and been a training boat for the Maritime Department and Ministry of Fisheries. This 17 Tonne 45ft, Kauri launch is also described as a small ship since it was built at Miller and Tonnage Ship Builders in Port Chalmers in 1938. She has been refitted on three occasions and even given a copper bottom by the Americans, for her use in the Pacific Islands during WWII. We are proud to have her in Coromandel waters once again after time in Lyttleton as the whale watch boat. The large saloon, galley, 2 cabins and spacious covered deck make her ideal for enjoying our spectacular scenery and sea life. A proven seaworthy boat with MSA authority for 18 passengers, 10 to Great Barrier Island, she is a fabulous venue for sight seeing cruises, parties, or evening sunset cruises. Come enjoy the Hauraki Gulf and Islands.
